Hi everyone, my name is Lindsay and I am the longest serving committee member. I’ve been part of DH Runners since it started.
The club is really special to me ans I love the fact we have supported so many people to start running, start running again and improve their running!
I started running using the couch to 5k then became a run leader and started the Dh Thursday group. I have ran lots of races including 10ks, half marathons, 2 road marathons and ultra trail runs. I have just started doing triathlons and love the multi sport element- especially the swimming in open water. My favourite run is Carlisle parkrun.

I joined DH Runners in 2016 after some gentle encouragement from Lindsay Graham. My first run with DH was on Tuesday 27 September that year and my first race in DH colours was the X-Border on Sunday 29 January 2017. I managed a 10k PB which I have never quite managed to beat!
In 2018 I trained to be a Run Leader and this year went on to complete the Coaching qualification.
I love the club and all it has given me over the years. I am therefore delighted to be elected as Vice Chair and to support the club for the forthcoming year.

I joined DH Runners in 2015, my first ever run group was a Thursday night on 12th February 2015, I ran/walked 2.8 miles. I remember well that I only managed to run continuously for a couple of minutes before walking!
I started running because I wanted to do something to raise money for a Kidney Cancer Charity as my dad had passed away from this disease the previous summer. I decided to sign-up for the Cumbrian Run in 2015 as a challenge.
Since then I have completed 10K Races, Half Marathons, Full Marathons, 30 mile and 50 mile Trail Ultra races.

Both my sisters Nicola and Kathryn joined DH Runners on the first ever night of Thursday Run Group. After that every time a YCR course was scheduled, they kept trying to persuade me to come along and join but I kept refusing! In the end to keep them happy I decided to do the YCR run course in June 2017. Quite adamant that I wasn’t going to do any races or go to parkrun…..
I actually enjoyed the YCR course and carried on running at DH on a Thursday evening. Since then, I’ve been at lots of parkruns, completed some 5k and 10k races and two half marathons. I have also loved a few 10k trail races I have done.
I became a Run Leader in June 2018, I regularly run lead on a Thursday evening (when not injured!)

I started running in 1982, which was the year after I left school, as I realised I hadn’t done any exercise for nearly 12 months, and thought I’d better do something. Since then I have entered numerous events over different distances, including 2 marathons, although prefer the shorter 10km races now.
I joined DH runners after I returned to Cumbria in 2022. Whilst I now live in Brampton, I felt an immediate connection as I lived in Denton Holme in the mid-80s; no club in those days, I ran around the cobbled streets on my own. I regularly attend the Thursday runs and really enjoy meeting new people, who all have different running histories.

I started running in 2016, I would run/walk the same loop 3 times a week and each time I’d try and run more than I walked. Eventually I was able to run the whole thing, I didn’t know it at the time as I didn’t have a watch but it was just over a 3 mile loop. I ran my first race in the January 2017 (Resolution 10k) in a time of 54:09 (I try and run the resolution every year and my fastest time is now 45:50)
I joined DH pretty soon after my first race.
I remember how supportive and encouraging the other club members and the run leaders were. Pretty soon I’d signed up for more 10ks, half marathons and then I did Manchester Marathon where I gained a Good For Age time for London Marathon.
These days I run road and off road and I can never decide which I enjoy more. I have many ultras including the Lakeland 100. I love the discipline of training and all the different sessions that are involved like hills, track, tempo etc.
I am delighted to be elected as Run Leader Coordinator, we have a great mixture of run leaders and I’m excited to see what the year ahead brings.

I started running in 2014 primarily because my son was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I wanted to raise money for Diabetes Uk. I joined DH in 2019 and started running a 5k on a Thursday night and loved that everyone was so friendly and welcoming. As I improved I moved to running both Thursday 5k and Tuesday 10k.
Since then I have completed many parkruns, 5k, 10k, half marathons and 50 mile ultras.
DH is more than just running for me it’s a family and a community.
I feel very privileged to be female captain for 2024.

I have ran off and on with DH since 2017, but did not become an official member until 2021. My reasons for running was keeping up with the kids triathlon training initially, but ended up with the bug.
I’ve ran races 5k to half marathons over the years, but do enjoy Parkrun tourisms. Due to illness I’ve had to stop running since July 2024 but once I’m able to I’ll do my best to keep up with you all. Until then, I’ll join in as spectator/supporter and pester you all to join in the extracurricular activities.

I’ve been running since about 2014, inspired by my wife Jen – she started running and encouraged me to join in, inspired by friendly and supportive local running groups. I’ve run lots of 5K and 10K races and have even managed a half-marathon and a full marathon. It was always impressive to see the DH runners at events and to see so many members of the club supporting their fellow athletes.
I joined DH in 2024 and I love how it is more than just a running club – it is welcoming and inclusive and, through its fundraising and organisation of races, has such a positive impact on the lives of so many people both within the club and in the wider community.

I joined DH Runners in October 2017 when I took part in their You Can Run + programme. I’d been running for a couple of years but struggled to go out on my own. Since joining DH Runners my running has vastly improved and so has my social life! I have achieved things I could never have dreamed of and met some of my best friends. I am proud and delighted to be female captain for 2025.
